Beginning in mid October until shortly before Thanksgiving, the Merciful HELP Center collects Thanksgiving type foods, staples, laundry detergent and personal hygiene items to create food baskets for approximately 450 families from Hamilton County in Indiana.
Thanksgiving dinner items include all the fixings necessary to bring a family together for a complete meal, right down to the whipped cream and pumpkin pie! Frozen turkey, fresh potatoes, milk, butter, eggs and fresh bread are purchased, as well as any foods that are not donated. The box also includes pantry staples to make at least 4 other meals, like a meal of spaghetti, tuna and noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We also include items that are not covered by food stamps, such as toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and more.
There are so many wonderful opportunities to serve with the Thanksgiving basket drive, for more information please email thanksgivingbaskets@MercifulHELPCenter.org |
